>>All of that is financed out of the 4% they charge for transaction, paid by the seller - but eventually bu you. And also anybody else who pays otherwise, they don't have different prices for cash. Except when they do - I've seen dozens of gas stations where the cash price is few percent below card price.
Commonplace in some jurisdictions to quote a cash price, plus a credit card surcharge. Usually 1.75%-2.5% IME. Not that it matters, because often prices are negotiable and I rarely pay the surcharge.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
