It's not really possible to properly equate society in the USA today with what it was in the 1930's and 1940's either -- the whole world is a different place. Of course the problem is more complicated than the 1 sentence I laid out - -but it's the crux of the matter. No other time in our history has the life expectancy for males around 40 to 50 years old gone DOWN - which it's doing now.

Aby stats you believe to be mostly honest citing causes/reasons for that ? Naive me thinks currently only about current higher obesety caused things canceling out less smoking-attributed causes. Traffic deaths at least over here on a slow but steady decline...
