Sure, that is and should be a concern, but gun violence in crime ridden neighborhoods has been an issue for a long time, and not much has changed. The topic here is mass shootings, and especially school shootings. If you look at the stats, you'd see that in the worst mass shootings in the last 2 years, most of the shooters and most of the victims were white.

>>>So, you don't see any logic in starting with regulating the most lethal?

>I understand the logic, but at one stage educated people understood the logic that the world was flat too. Science is all about doubt and questioning and pursuit of evidence- and there's no evidence that banning semi-auto weapons will achieve anything at all. Whereas there is evidence that controlling handguns yields a favorable result. Ask the Brits.

What kind of evidence would we be looking for, if there was no, or very little experimentation to produce that evidence? However, there has been a steep rise in the number mass shootings and their victims, since 2004 (when the 10 year ban on assault weapons expired). https://www.statista.com/statistics/476101/worst-mass-shootings-in-the-us/
Again, we're talking about mass shootings, and especially cases in which one individual with a weapon that is able to kill a large number of people at random. Shouldn't that be a priority?

>If you do review stats, here's something I'd strongly recommend: eliminate suicide.

Very concerning, but again, the topic is not about suicides. I don't know whether you just wanted to shift focus to mental health. Otherwise, lumping issues together does not make a more scientific approach.
