>>>>>Interestingly enough, in Australia, there has been no mass shooting recorded since the buyback
>>>
>>>No buyback in NZ, and not a single mass shooting using an assault rifle in the last 25 years despite large numbers in circulation.
>>>
>>>>>There are other measures that may garner more support, like universal background checks for all gun buyers and for ammunition buyers, banning the high capacity magazines, the (expanded definition) assault weapons ban.
>>>
>>>In fact the US already has laws requiring reporting of criminal and mental health records to NICS, but compliance is patchy. There's also more recent laws making firearm purchases illegal if you have a domestic violence history, even at misdemeanor level. At least one of the most recent shooters had a domestic violence hx and should not have been allowed to buy guns for that reason alone. Compare to NZ where some gun owners consider Police to be over-zealous in their checking, even to the point that the High Court struck down one of the Police requirements. But it seems to me you want authorities to be overzealous rather than slack. I see some congresspeople now proposing incentives for states to improve their compliance with existing law. Incentives?! They need to be shamed for failing to do so. If people want to march, march about that.
>>
>>One should note that Congress has a ban on CDC from even conducting any gun violence research. Shows you just how low the NRA and their paid off politicians will go - they don't even want any studies done on gun violence. It's all part of their evil plan - if you can't even do a study then it makes it harder to come up with a solution to a problem when you are not allowed to study the problem. Shameful.

>6 days ago - Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar said Thursday that he would allow his department to conduct research into the causes of gun violence, a major Democratic priority. Democrats on Thursday pushed for lifting a provision that restricts the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ...

Yeah I'm aware of what that guy wants. Doesn't really matter what he wants if congress won't do anything about it though does it?

>Say "Thank You President Trump".

For what? Appointing this greedy pharmaceutical company executive to this job? ya know the guy he had to appoint because the last guy he appointed to the job got nailed for flying around with his wife in personal jets on personal business on the taxpayer's dime? His position on women’s reproductive rights is horrible, has been a harsh critic of the ACA and calls it 'a fundamentally broken system' and I could go on and on about this guy. This is just another one of the long list of Trump's unfit appointees. Thank Trump? ha yeah right. Thank you Trump for again appointing someone worthless to an important position to ensure we all get screwed.
