>I have had firefox on my machine for a long time but never used it much until I got this message "IMPORTANT: To access this site, you must be using Firefox 56+ or Google Chrome 61+ web browser on your computer. Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Internet Explorer are not preferred browsers and are less compatible with this site.". You know the British reputation for understatement - "not preferred" really means "will not work". This a large broker in London that holds a lot of my money so I started using firefox.

I never understood this passion with which M$ tries to do a full tie-in, as if we're still in the years of big iron, when you had to buy everything from the same manufacturer or else it won't work. When cards punched on IBM wouldn't work on Hannibal (ok, Honeywell) or NCR or whoever, not to mention any memory cards or other extensions.

But M$ persists - they were pushing this browser for what, 25 years now, closer to 30, even though it's good only for Microsoft Internet, not the real one.
