>>I just stopped by to lurk but I got sucked in by your solution. I downloaded as you suggested and everything is working. I wasted an afternoon but I'm retired so who cares.
>>Anyway, thanks for the info. BTW I did a music video.

>I'm not really downloading videos - I just want the music, so I'm using it only to save as mp3, and for that it requires a "companion app" - a fancy name for plugin's plugin - and the GUI for that was rather confusing for a while. Now they got their act together and it just works. The only time there's a glitch is when it needs a new version of this companion, so I have to click to get it, wait for the linux installer to handle the package, then remember to go back to yoochoob to do it again. Lots easier than it was a year ago. My only nice-to-have is that it could really apply replay gain to the file (youtube's videos are generally about 8dB louder than standard) and create ID3.2 tags.

As far as getting any music/sound to MP3 I find that the Total Recorder (that I mentioned to you previously) is the best. It has many useful feature as far as recording the sounds. For example, you can make it automatically split the recording into 1-minute intervals. Than, when you listen, you can't hear the change from one interval to another. But when you click on go to the previous (e.g. when listening in a car) it goes exactly one minute back. Or you can rewind the sound by how-ever many seconds you wish. It has tons of other features but I don't need to use them.
They (Total Recorder) has a video recorder too. But when I tried it, some time ago, it didn't produce the results that I was looking for.
