Hi Marco,
Thanks for your enlightening post.
>Json based configuration files are the standard these days. Take for example Atom.io : it implements exactly what you want to achieve ( check >
https://atom.io/docs/api/v1.6.0/Config ) and VsCode does it by patching the base json config file with user json snippets ( >
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/getstarted/settings ) with user setiings to replace the default values - I forgot to mention PATCH( oDest, oSrc ) is the most >important function nfTools will provide to achieve this kind of operations in VFP -
I must admit that I'm not currently using VS or Atom. Just musing to move our packages from VFP to python, which I feel so comfortable with, PYQT. I'll move to a modern dev environment then, possiby pycharm or VS. But yep I'm still fully stuck on good ol' VFP IDE and Notepad++ these days... But I certainly value VS or Atom as dev environments and editors. Their flexibility is indeed impressive.
Thanks for pointing out the role played by JSON in these IDEs in terms of parameter-settings these days. We are certainly in good company here:-)
Great exchange on this thread, Marco!
