Probably unrelated to a problem we encountered some time ago, where program would appear to crash in very specific spots whenever the system language was Chinese, Japanese or Korean. The somewhat puzzling bit was the type of error being thrown -- syntax error -- something you'd expect at compile time rather than runtime. I was able to track it down to places where string constant was used -- more specifically whenever the string constants contained characters in the upper-ASCII range (i.e. character codes 128 to 255). When thinking about it, it made sense -- the character codes in that range are often involved in the double-byte encoding schemes used in the codepages for those languages (typically used as "shift-in", "shift-out" or "lead-in" characters that select different "banks" of characters).
