Very nice. Most charities do good things. When I stayed in Italy for a couple of months waiting for the permit to come to the USA (as a refugee from the Soviet Union), I would go almost every day to the small gatherings of American christian missionaries with sole purpose of listening to them and learning English. I feel bad about using them :)

Most of what I refer to as Jewish charities are established to benefit the state of Israel. And one that I particularly care about is very small. I think their annual income/contributions is less than a million. So, when I read your reply regarding John Ryan (the politician who is about to retire), I Googled his name. I found some articles saying that when he retired from the Congress, he will be making tons of money being on boards of companies. They didn't say the boards of charities but that got me thinking. When I get a newsletter from a small local charity, the list of people on the Board is very long. And even if each person were to make 50K, it would add quite a bit. I think most likely it depends how much money a charity raises. Those like AHA raise millions so they have more to "spread" :)
