Having finally put Andrew Roberts' Napoleon to rest at Helena (1000 pp, but worth the read) I'm well into Jeff Shaara's The Glorious Cause - the story of Washington's amazing leadership of the colonial army- such as it was- to victory over the overwhelmingly superior British force.
Not much discussion of optics there.
