I agree with the "interesting" part but it's hardly "news" to me. I'm fairly familiar with the HUD system and LLCs in Georgia and real estate investments and as the article says several times they got their information from public records. The statement in the article "not required to disclose their owners to Georgia regulators" is misleading. I guess they are not familiar with GA Tax Forms 600S or 700 - both of which require copies of US tax forms 1120S or 1065 K-1's for every stockholder or partner - or the requirement that for most programs you almost always have to sign a release of those tax records to the agency(regulators) involved. That doesn't make the records public but the agency does know who the owners are.
