I still spend a few hours/year telling MD's why I won't use the meds (very expensive) that they want me to use.
I've noted that their persistence seems to vary directly with the cost of the meds.

In this case, people are dying because of these thieves but no less pernicious are the so-called MD's who prey on seniors with drugs and tests that they don't need.
