Not having any experience with WPF, but we see that fat client applications are getting less relevant in enterprise applications. Web based solutions are getting more and more common. Easier to deploy and less conflicts with other installations and versioning of additional components.

We have a 20+ year investment in a VFP application. We are working towards replacing it by a web based solution. It does not make much sense to do otherwise.
