My guess here is that somewhere in your app, you have an object reference to an object in the form. With that object reference, the Destroy of the object cannot fire. When this happens, the form cannot unload - eventhough it's destroy event has fired.

If your application shut hangs, make sure you issue Clear Events in the Unload Event of the Form.
