Hi Tamar,

Well, if anyone else asks and is thinking of coming and they were willing to pay for a pre-conference session, I would as well. At this point, the biggest benefit to me would probably be the basics of using SQL server and simple things like connecting to the server etc and then maybe a whole list of "you did it that way in VFP, you need to do it this way in SQL" and other "gotchas" (maybe like Bill Todoro is experiencing right now). I know there is the possibility of my client paying for the registration if there is enough content immediately useful to them - if I am just going for "professional development" (which is still useful), then I'm on my own. I know I can take courses from a general IT training company but they tend to be a WHOLE lot more money and for the "basic" stuff, the course tends to cover "what is a database" and "what is a relational database" etc - all stuff we know but just need translating from VFP to SQL.

I am inclined to come regardless but always nice if someone else pays part of the ticket :-)

Albert

>Yes, we have. Last year, Doug did an intro to C# as a precon. We do try to change things from year to year, but no, you're not way behind the curve. There are still lots of people figuring it out.

>Also yes, we have nothing on SQL Server this year. That's a function of what sessions people propose. In fact, we noticed as we made our choices and weren't entirely happy about it.

>Probably still worth it for you to attend because beyond the formal sessions, the conference gives you a chance to talk to others about what they're doing. In fact, to me, interaction with other developers is probably of equal value to the sessions.
