It means somebody came up with obfuscating verbiage. Perhaps you'll notice that I'm being careful to use unambiguous terms like "semi-auto weapon" rather than "assault-style rifle" that purports to be a synonym for semi-automatic rifle, but often seems to include automatic weapons- whose civilian US ban has had widespread support since it was actioned decades ago.

Dare I suggest that this misleading jargon colours your own responses? I wonder how many others are misled that this is about deplorables with automatic weapon arsenals that need to be dismantled for the good of society?

Worth asking who would come up with jargon that does the opposite of what jargon is supposed to do, and why.
