Hi Al,

>If your bundler/virtualizer makes any "naughty" system calls it might be affected by MS's Meltdown/Spectre updates. I suspect some of these have been baked into >1803, since it's the first major "feature update" since Meltdown/Spectre were disclosed in January this year

I tested two altenative bundlers, enigma and boxedapp. Enigma bundler called "virtual box" is free. But it would cope with our case. It displayed serious hickups. I am in the process of testing BoxedApp. It looks like it will tick most marks:
- easy to use, really!
- bundled executables start up reasonably fast,
- we can, again, forget about ocx(es) and dll(s),
- compression factor is decent.

Tests are not finished. But I expect the product to prove itself as a no-brainer deployment solution. Of this comes at a price. But mild in view of the nightmare of installation in the corporate world. I'll report in a couple of weeks when the thing is thoroughly tested!

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.

Daniel
