>>Dick's has been prohibited from selling any weapon that can be set to automatic fire, for over 30 years now.
>>
>>The Las Vegas shooter had legal semi-automatic weapons that he fitted with bump stocks that effectively jiggle the trigger rapidly.
>>
>>Bump stocks were declared legal by the previous US administration twice, despite reservations expressed even by the NRA, but are being banned by the current administration.
>>
>>Meanwhile it's fashionable to attack Trump and the NRA for causing/not fixing the problem, and Congress for overturning Obama's late executive order requiring gun bans on anybody on disability who needs help with the paperwork, which characteristically is conflated into allowing crazy people to buy guns again. In fact there's a longstanding requirement to report "mental defectives" which is an awful term but includes mentally unwell people whether they need help with paperwork or not. The real problem is that reporting is so sloppy that rearranging rules is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

I recently read "The Glorious Cause", Jeff Shaara's fascinating account of the battles of the American Revolution.
It's a great read and I recommend it.
It's clear that the militia mentality that characterized the rebellious colonists of that era persists here today.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
