Which we did for a while in 2000. when we were without a car for about six weeks, so we walked to get milk etc, and at some point had to cross a six-lane main business street, where a regional road enters the town after going through some three miles of shopping malls, lumberyards and gas stations. Felt like seventies at home, in the times when the first mass generation of drivers got behind the wheels, where for about 90% of them it was the first car in the family since forever. You learn to predict their movements.
