>>>Not so much easy as it is sad. If nothing is going to change their minds then what's the point of trying Bill? I mean you'd THINK that implementing a policy to steal / kidnap children from their parents would be enough to wake the hell up - ya know a line that you just don't cross -- but for some it is not. Equally disturbing is that most republican voters actually agreed with this inhumane policy. Sort of tells you what the GOP in the Trump era has become Bill. HRC sort of had a point with her "Basket of deplorables" statement hmmm?

>>As long as you are focusing on the emotional aspect of such heavy handed acts, which are still only a minor blip on the total number, Trump has reached a few of his goals by defining the territory of future discussion more to his favorite issues and keeping you off-balance.

>Kidnapping children and babies from their parents is not a 'minor blip' which deserves no emotional responses. But aside from that obvious point -- where exactly are you gathering that there is some sort of 'emotional response' to begin with?

There was no evidence that those kids are held for ransom in the Lindbergh way or planned to be sold into slavery. They were separated and probably put into a bureocracy. Labeling that separation this way IMO is either an emotional response or a deliberate attempt to evoke one.
As the second is worse in my book, until proven otherwise I surmize that this was not a calculated attempt at manipulation but an emotional response.

>Surely you are better than the 'Womp Womp': Corey Lewandowski yes???

Had to google that and scan briefly. Concentrating on the things said on TV more than on the issues/realities is one the trends I think show the foolishness of current media. Another POV might be that growing vastly different scales for things done afar vs. things done near home [border] was one the turning points of Roman Empire. In the very beginning conquered states had real benefits - from law to infrastructure - if they supported Rome as allies in the future. But "normal" Roman citizen had a real chance of being part in the action, which damped "cultural exchange" of intelligentsia/artists/females staying at home at these times.

>That is just a cop out by you to disregard the most basic level of human decency - taking children from their parents. So rather than seeing the problem with that, you just respond with oooh don't be so emotional about it?

There is no clear number - but the process was clearly enacted for less than 2 months. How come the separation of those kids are making bigger headlines than the the number of kids separated permanently from their parents by
a) the kids being killed
b) one or both parents being killed

as that is a separation hard to revoke by courts or prez orders?

>>IMO a rather simple ploy, but it still seems to work for him. At least it gave him first page material with rocket man - in Trump eyes certainly an accomplishment. I reserve applause/judgement until a marked difference in behaviour accomplished by some treaties is seen, but at least had classified his earlier bad-mouthing probably better than all those already looking for shelter from NK ballistic radiation gifts.

> It's part of the dictator's handbook -- align yourself with other dictators -- same thing he's done with Putin and others.

Neither US nor other NATO countries had trouble with aligning themselves with dictators before Trump when it furthered some of their policies. So while it may be "part of the dictator's handbook", either it is established procedure in democracies as well or you have to reclassify quite a few post-WWII prez....

>..and what did NK get out of that and what did the USA get out of that and did you see the images of their new nuke facility? Examine just how dumb all of this was for us and the end results. Don't get me wrong -- I'm all for dialogue and all -- need that before anything good can happen....but Trump is, to put it mildly, unqualified to be involved in such dialogue.

See embolded part on reserving judgement. I guess Trump (team??) aims for a Nixon-like opening of a country described priviously only as pure evil, but will not accomplish anything comparable.
