Finally? It's always temporary...

For the last six years we have the most cleptocratic government so far, and they use frequent elections as an excuse to do nothing but campaign. Funny though, no elections this year, but then the year is still young. And yes, they fixed most of the worst potholes but never all of them. And as usual, what they fixed two years ago already sprouts its own potholes around the edges of the patch. And they aren't even trying to fix the sunk pavement before and after manholes, which are caused by filling the space around the manhole with just sand, which is gradually washed away by underground waters. They're waiting for the first sinkhole to appear (historically they always do - I remember two of them). Though, they finally repaved the worst street of the kind, the one leading to city hall from a side, which every cab driver knew to avoid when going north; going south it was OK, all the manholes are on the other side. And they fully repaved it almost all the way, but only patched the last three blocks.

> They had to - election coming up.

For elections 2014 they proudly announced they paved a street in my area, a relatively busy sidestreet leading to community center. And they did it well... except it's four blocks long and they paved only one. They staged at least four elections since, but nada, the rest of the street is still narrow with bumpy shoulders.
