I think Bill is right that the column has to be set to Word Wrap. I use the class VFPxWorkbookXLSX developed by Greg Green to create an Excel file. This class, from the documentation, has the method SetCellWordWrap and a parameter tlWordWrap. But I don't understand how to apply it to my code. In my code, I use just one line:
*-- The cursor is which is converted to Excel is open at this point. Then simply calling the method 
*-- SaveTabletoWorkbook() (as seen below) creates excel.
loExcel.SaveTabletoWorkbook(lcCursorName, cExcelFileName, .T., .T., tcWorkSheetName)
