In both cases, the impetus came from hatred.
The repubs hated Obama and the libs hate Trump.
People can argue whether one hatred is more or less virulent than the other, but it's hatred nonetheless.
If you just change a few words, the lib rants against Trump sound an awful lot like the rants we heard non-stop against Obama.
