>If the GOP thought it would come up empty then they would go ahead with the investigation. Furthermore one can agree that Kavanaugh himself should welcome such an investigation to clear his name and not have a little star next to his name in the history books if he's so innocent rather than go on FoxNews claiming to be a virgin alter boy. It would not be Kavanaugh subject to a 'cruel investigation' - that is reserved for his accusers.

This idea that K should want an investigation to clear his name is just laughable. The more serious accusations have no credibility if they are not willing to file a police report.

Again, I don't dismiss the Ford story completely. It has issues but I'm not convinced it's a lie. However, of the 3, that is the one where an "investigation" is just absurd, given the lack of facts or even accurate alleged timeline.

There are a million problems with this notion of running to the FBI, but here's one....the notion that K should want an investigation if he's innocent, is assuming that there is a logical path to vindication. Given the lack of any mature process of thought from the Ds on this one, and how badly they've behaved here, you can throw the theoretical possibility of a path of vindication out the window. As much as I detest Trump, he is sadly correct when he talks about the "swamp". (I say sadly because he has a swamp of his own). By falling for an FBI investigation, given what's been presented so far, it falls right into the hands of the Ds, who might just be pulling off the biggest political hit job of all time.

Remember the McMartin preschool sex crime trials? It feels like we're back to that again.
