We had a serious look at Servoy and Lianja, but decided we need absolute control and not being bound to licence fees. We hired a few young programmers to do this, because my expertise in VFP is still too valuable and I'm way too busy to start at square 1 again.

You are lucky to find such talented developers. Unfortunately I need to wear those hats too, not because my VFP knowledge is not valuable anymore but seriously I find it much easier to do some stuff in other languages, backends, platforms (for example I would never attempt to use a web service from within VFP but just create a quick activex C# wrapper). One other reason is UI for example, creating some UI I need is very hard in VFP but easy in HTML (Thanks to John Ryan in this thread for providing a meta tag to me, so now I can also create HTML5 stuffy to use in a VFP form).
We are doing the same approach :( Wish I had time to rewrite everything from scratch in my choice of language (it wouldn't be C# but Go then I guess:)
