>I agree with your original point about presenting a united front, if such a thing can ever be accomplished in as diverse a community as ours. As for what features of VFP6 I want. Who's to say what I will and will not find functional as time goes on. I use functionality today without even thinking about it that I never even considered being available 5 years ago. Point being that if a capability exists, eventually a demand will arise to fill it, and conversely if a need arises, a way will be found.

Jason,

I think we are all that way. I agree that if M$ had asked me several years ago if I wanted a visual fox pro, I probably would have said "what for? -- if I want opps I'll use small talk." Now that we have it, I'm glad.

But the point remains, who is M$ talking to to find out what developer's want? Do they just examine the corporate belly button for ex cathedra revelations, or ask Billy (that would probably be an ex deus pronouncement!).

I have never seen M$ do a "Hey guys and gals, we are about to revise this product, what do you want to see in it" type of dialog -- never. Even Ashton-Tate of late and lamented memory used to do that.

So how does M$ do its product research to find out what it customer's (that's us, BTW) want?

Have you ever been asked?

regards

jim
