There is already virtualization, Remote Desktop, hamachi, etc.
But since you are thinking developing a new application why wouldn't think about doing that with a way that works across the platforms (be it a language, UI ...)? For example I can code something in Go on my Mac and compile it to work on Mac, Windows and Linux (and mobile). Or write with Dart and Flutter a single code base for android or iOS. Or create a web based solution that is accessed from anyone of them or compiled natively to those platforms. There are many languages now with that capability.
