>>Today the pres blamed the downturn in the stock market on the Fed.

>>OK, I understand.

In the White House gardens there is a small plum tree. Trump noticed it was looking a little wilted, so he put some fertilizer under it and watered it. The effects were almost instant: the plum tree burst into vigorous life. "Good fertilizer," said Trump. "Nothing to do with your nasty chemicals!" screamed some unhinged accusers. "Obama gets the credit!"

Some weeks later, a wind storm swept through DC. Alas, half the plums were on the ground the next day. "Bad wind," said Trump. "Liar!" screamed the unhinged accusers. "Oh yes, you're happy to take credit when things go well, but as soon as the real effects of your nasty chemicals become clear, suddenly you blame the wind. OK, I understand. And you know what we're going to do about it? Well, voters: if you put us back into power- we'll be asking for Trump's tax returns!! So vote for us and all will be well!"
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
