>>>Yes well that was the 80's. Now it's legal in many states, not to mention the whole country of Canada as of a few days ago. Times a changin'.

>There's variable potency with most research done on lite crops, unfortunately. Local experience is that weed from NZ's far North has become unusually potent, with growing local evidence of behavioral and psychiatric side effects by your 50s. Sadly, the only way to find out the truth about psychoactive drugs is by finding out, which in this case may well be leaving shambling wrecks of human beings who thought they were consuming safe product. Watch out, the Hawaiian crop could be terribly potent too.

Yes they've refined the crop so well that it can be significantly more potent than it was just 30 years ago. As for Hawaiian crop - 'Maui Wowie' has been a world famous sativa that's considered one of the best in the world for decades - and it's legal to get here now with a doctor's approval. Frankly I don't see how anyone could be a functioning productive person if they smoked it on a regular basis though - it would just be a huge waste of your time unless your life goal was to sit on a couch giggling at dumb tv shows while stuffing your face full of Twinkies and potato chips. True that the only way to find out the truth about psychoactive drugs is by finding out -- and we won't know the long term effects of these new potent super-weeds for quite a few more years, but I have always believed that there is a link between people that smoke a lot of pot when they're younger and depression when they become older (I have no evidence to back that up). I do know that other psychedelics such as LSD does indeed cause depression years later and seen that happen to some of the older hippies I've known over the years. That being said...I still think it should be legalized AND regulated AND taxed.
