A few ways

I access the API from a PHP app that's running on a Linux server.

Sometimes I call the PHP program that accesses the API from another PHP app that uses the data loaded into a MySQL table by the GET, or sends data via parmeters to be used by the PUT.

I also call the PHP program that accesses the API from a .NET desktop program that uses HttpWebRequest to access the url of the PHP program calling the API.
The .NET program then accesses any data returned by querying the MySQL tables in question.

I haven't had a need to do it with VFP.
