>>>That war, started by GW Bush and continued by both Obama and Trump is an ongoing stain on the US, where "reporters" talk about wedding cakes, caravans and Russian plots on Facebook.

>In fairness, the Afganistan adventure was supported by a lot of US allies too, unlike the second Iraq caper. Even tiny NZ has troops and casualties in Afganistan.

>Anyway, why go all the way back to Bush? Syria was and continues to be a stumblefest of which the Keystone Cops would be proud with pretend lines in the sand, funding of hostile caliphates, mass atrocities and stubborn refusal to work with Russians to end it all quicker- which is quietly looking more likely under current administration, fwiw, though the most likely outcome includes closer ties to Russia and Iran rather than the US.

Agreed.

We have to find a way to get this horror into proper focus, though.

When I visit my girlfriend in Bucks County, Pa, I pass a heavily guarded compound where people work regular shifts guiding drones that inflict unspeakable atrocities on innocent people thousands of miles away.

Only Bernie Sanders has the courage to acknowledge this horror.

Thomas Jefferson, an atheist, said late in his life that he'd better be right about that because a just God would exact a horrible punishment on anyone who owned slaves.

I wonder what he'd say about post 9/11 America.
