Hmm let's see...
HRC votes for Iraq war - 600K plus dead and people are dying every day
Trump insults a reporter..

Hmm something is dangerous there, for sure.

What is CNN talking about?
Let's see...

While you're worrying about how he offended a reporter, that reporter is not "reporting" on the fact that there is a serious proposal, supported by members of both parties, to increase the US Air Force budget by 25%.

I really don't think the first amendment is at risk when someone threatens CNN.
CNN - and the other cable news networks - haven't broken an important story since the OJ trial showed them how to make money by talking about the same thing all day.

Andrew Jackson shot someone who disagreed with him.

During my lifetime the McCarthy era saw newspapers, radio stations and TV networks being told that they couldn't hire certain people because of their political beliefs... now that's some serious censorship.

and somehow Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein broke the Watergate story decades later.

Meanwhile, some people are doing some serious reporting.
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/07/william-langewiesche-b-2-stealth-bomber/561719/

This story tells how 4 bombers, each of which cost over $2 billion, were deployed to attack 70 people.
That's not even one infantry company!

Imagine what $8 billion could do for the bridges in this country.

This story never hit the networks, some of whose sponsors- and owners- are dependent on military revenues.
Serious journalists don't talking about wedding cakes, where people pee, Stormy Daniels or HRC's email server.

There are magazines and web sites like The Atlantic who practice serious journalism.
The Atlantic was founded by people like Emerson and Longfellow during the middle of the nineteenth century. It survived the civil war, WWI, the great depression, WWII, and the McCarthy era.
This kind of journalism will always find a way to be heard.
