For working with Excel and VFP, you should take a look at the different procedures by Vilhelm-Ion Praisach http://praisachion.blogspot.com/. Vilhelm has produced very fine classes to import and export from Excel to VFP and from VFP to Excel both for xls and for xlsx type files.
A must to try before you decide.
