>>So, I decided to buy a couple of tickets for their concert, coming in June of 2019. At the Gillette stadium. Logged in this morning, before 10 am, when they started the sale. The prices are outrageous. Minimum at about $300 per tickets and those are where you sit up in the stands and see the concert on the big screen. Anything remotely close is about $700-$1000 per ticket. And people buy them. I guess it is good that some can spend that kind of money.

>Your point about spending the money is a good one - it depends on whether you just want the experience of the concert itself, or the entire day.

I agree that the DVD concerts are great. I have about 15 of some very good concerts. Although I have not watched them for a while, I know that I can always just pop-in one and enjoy the show.

My wife and I went to Billy Joel concert at Fenway a couple of month ago. It was nice experience but mostly watching him on a big screen. We paid about $400 for two seats. We saw Paul McCartney at the same venue, and almost the same seats (my kids gave me the tickets for my b-day). Also, pretty much on a big screen. I put these in the column of "been there, done that."

But when we go to the Jazz at Lincoln Center and watch Michael Feinstein (one of my most favorite) or many other musicians we have seen there, I really enjoy these concerts and the experience for a long time. The seats at JLC are very nice, you see musicians like they play in your family room. We even sat close to Tony Bennett one time.

Another great venue to watch a concert is Berklee College of Music. Saw many great ones there. Reasonably priced tickets and fairly small concert hall. Blood, Sweat, and Tears stand in my mind.
