It is your word that should apply forever, regardless of whether or not the other party is honorable. It's inherent in all things in our lives. We're not responsible for the choices other people make. We are responsible for our conduct around them in guiding them and teaching them and so on, but ultimately, they make the choices they're going to make and they must live with those consequences. We, on the other hand, are accountable for the choices we make.
When we agree to give our word on something, we should follow it through always. It's more than just a point of honor. It's truth living in us.
