> I'm not sure on this one, but I believe some care has to be taken in the number of files set in CONFIG.SYS versus the number in NET.CFG since there is some correlation between the number of total files that can be open and the numbers specified in these two setup files. I think if the numbers aren't balanced in some manner, one can override or conflict with the other and still cause problems with the actual number of open files.

these two file settings don't conflict w/ each other. you may need to check with your net admin because they can (and do) set limits on these kinds of things.
