>>At the end of 1989/early 1990 I won an award from the Dept of Agriculture for a database app I did in Fox.
>>I was 24. I was certainly a decent developer, but really did not deserve the accolades I received. The truth is, Fox was one heck of a tool.

>(Belated) Congratulations! :-)

>>FoxPro, Turbo-C, and CodeBase (from Sequitur) were my first loves. You never forget your first loves.
>
>True that.

>>But beyond that, the SQL Server platform runs circles around Fox (as well it should, as MS has been enhancing it). I think you need to separate the sentiment of what Fox helped us do, with what we have today.

>>Everyone on Earth can say negative things about VFP

Did Kevin say negative things about VFP?
He didn't but he did sing praises (deserved) for SQL Server
That said, we're human.
If I tell my girlfriend that another woman is beautiful, I didn't say that my girlfriend isn't beautiful (she really is beautifule), but she still might be very unhappy

In fact, your preferences don't have to be wrong for mine to be right, and vice versa, but as I said above, we're human.

>>I loved Fox as much as anyone here. I will not say "more", but I'll certainly say I loved it "as much". But beyond that, your statements just don't hold water.
>>Tell you what, go venture from the friendly confines of this forum and post that message on a database tech forum - see what they say. :)

>The truth is fundamental. It doesn't depend upon perspective, opinion, or other factors. Everyone on Earth can say negative things about VFP ... I still know its merits. I will laud them alongside other tools, as I point my software development efforts toward bringing us the next VFP-compatible version that will include new design features, giving her a new lease on life, and more than just some plastic surgery. True enhancements.
>
>In any event ... it's the lens I see these things through ... the "what it could be" as I, the developer striving to make it happen, proceed (to my sadness, alone).
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
