While in your situation it was better to develop a framework from the scratch, it's usually better to buy a professional framework and start modifying from there. Especially from the aspects of costs which is important for independant developer that have to justify their expenses to their client, as well as emplozed developers who have to justify (or even ask for) expenses to their boss or another department.
