Twas the night before shutdown, when all through the House,
Many people were stirring, because of Trump’s mouth.

The funding bill passed both houses with care,
In hopes that the Donald really wouldn’t care.

The Rep’s had flown home and were planning to take
What they all deserved, a short holiday break.

Nancy and her kerchief and I in my cap,
Had finished what we thought was our last political flap.

When from the White House lawn there arose such a clatter,
We took red eye flights back to see what was the matter.

Away to the office we flew like a flash
We turned on Fox News and our hopes had been dashed.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Couldn’t give luster to the donald’s Veto.

When what to my wondering ears should I hear?
A demand for a wall and a lack of good cheer!

With a little weak leader, and a temper so quick,
I knew in a moment it was NOT St. Nick!

More rapid than twitter, Fox News showed his face.
He whistled, and shouted, and played to his base!

Now Dasher, now Dancer! Erdrogen and Putin!
On Comet, on Cupid! I’ll keep on disputin’!

While he bullied and threatened the very stunned crowd,
The people wondered how he could just shut us down!

“I ask you for money, 5 billion is all!
Don’t dash away hopes! GIMME MY WALL!!!”
