Along the same lines. Developed by anyone but Microsoft, bought and yoked into the money making machine. Now their histories diverge wildly. While VFP was mostly used as source of technology and hostage developers, Skype was used for its hostage users, while the technology was gradually ditched and replaced with orwellian version of its opposite: from the best p2p chatter out there into a centralized monster which keeps losing features but gaining your data.
