>Why did I think that the Serbian orthodox church is the last defender of the julian calendar? Well well... So yeah, two of each. Plus the patron saint, which is an official day off, it's just that when you get hired you state which one is it for your family and you can't change your mind later. St Nikola (19th of december) is the famous day of three halves - when half the citizens have their slava, the other half are their guests, and the third half don't give a damn for religion.

I still talk to a couple of friends from the old country (Ukraine) via internet. So, a week or so ago, this friend tells me that "now we celebrate x-mas at the same time as the Western Europe." When I asked why, she said "Ukraine wants to join EU so this is one of the first steps (celebrating x-mas at the same time) the Ukrainian government implemented" She said it with great deal of irony (because she knows that their government is corrupted and incompetent). They just can't wait to get to the EU trough :)
"The creative process is nothing but a series of crises." Isaac Bashevis Singer
"My experience is that as soon as people are old enough to know better, they don't know anything at all." Oscar Wilde
"If a nation values anything more than freedom, it will lose its freedom; and the irony of it is that if it is comfort or money that it values more, it will lose that too." W.Somerset Maugham
