>>>Riiight -- and did you see how that heroin actually gets across the border? It's though the points-of-entry, so a wall isn't going to do a damn thing to slow that down.
>
>According to the border personnel themselves: if you don't have to patrol and secure and rescue people along the whole border, you can do better at the points of entry.
>
>Even Obama's Border Patrol Chief that Trump fired immediately, is weighing in on this one now: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/01/09/obama-border-patrol-chief-trump-stay-course-border-wall
>
>Sheesh, look at what he had to say about the wall:
>
>I was removed. I’m standing up and saying, ‘I should have disdain for them, but I don’t because they are right. I can stand up and say they are right because it’s the right thing to do for this country. I’m begging the president to stay the course.”

..none of that changes the facts though -- and the fact is that a) the wall will not curb the drugs coming in. 2) will not curb the people coming in 3) zero terrorists have been caught on the southern border, 4) the migrant population has a lower crime rate among them than the native population 5) illegal Immigration is at a 20+ year low so we don't need it and there is no sudden emergency 6) a wall is not only expensive and takes people's land, but also ineffective and unwanted by the majority of the American people.
So it's a stupid idea. Period.

>If this story develops the way I expect, IMHO Fake News has approximately 0% chance of convincing people outside the bubble, that the wall is anything to do with hate or anti-immigration, or that it will cost more than it saves.

Those in the Trump bubble only believe what Trump says and think all else is fake, even though they admit he lies.

>JR>And he very, very, very clearly distinguished legal from illegal immigration- again. Will the fact checkers fact check themselves?
>VA>He was on air for 10 whole minutes reading a prepared speech and still told lies, misleading statements, falsehoods, etc John. I agree that not EVERYTHING he said was a lie of course.
>
>You would say that, but two things: first, you should be very worried if giving a prepared speech is supposed to be a criticism.

I do not have a problem with the fact it was prepared -- it's the contents of the speech.

>Second, I'd bet that you can't yet identify a statement he made that was wrong.

Oh really? He said Democrats requested a steel barrier on the southern border. Total lie pile of b.s.
He said the new trade deal will pay for the wall. The trade deal does not pay for the wall.
...there are others:

I suggest you don't place bets if that's how you were gonna bet.

>Whatever are those fact checkers doing?! Maybe they're being responsible... as an example, all the "fact checks" asserting he's anti-immigration are now useless because his very clear statement was broadcast so widely. If he's going to keep this up, Fake News is in difficulty.

..gave you liink to the Washington Post's live fact checking feed from the speech.
