>What do you mind under these words (from the rules): "Low level flamming and spamming"

Basically it means "be polite". Flaming is the electronic equivalent of yelling at someone across a crowded room. If something someone says offends or upsets you, reply to them privately, off list. It's hard to have an open discussion if people respond rudely.

For example: You report a bug, I respond by saying "hey dummy, where have you been that's been known about since version 1.0" I have just flamed you -- been rude to you and not contributed to the discussion. What I should have said was "that's been reported before -- the work around is/can be found at..." This second response contributes to the discussion by offering a solution to the problem & doesn't call you names either.

Personally I find the best way to avoid flaming someone is not to respond immediately, but read the rest of the thread (or a few others) then come back to the message that upset me and see if I'm still upset by it. At that point I'm usually able to write a (reasonably) calm response!

Spamming is sending junk mail (chain letters, "virus warnings", anything that says "send this mail to everyone you know")

If you want to advertise your products and/or services, UT has a place for that (classifieds) & it should be kept out of the general message forum.

Hope this helps,

Jen
