You could do everything you want to do with DOS commands I guess. Combined with some VFP commands...you could write your own class.

I actually have a question: VFP has a DIR command, but it doesn't list subdirectories. Do you know how to list subdirectories with a VFP command?

I know how to get around this with DOS commands and then parsing a text file, but I am wondering if there is something similar.

I don't know how much control you want the user to have. FILER gives the user a lot of control I think...I haven't looked into it too much though...
