Daughter said that M$ have changed policy and actually started listening to such input, finally. Fingers crossed but it may be only for the W10 department, and the skype is a different beast. It's just about the only popular app that I'm using for years (willy-nilly, came with the team) and watched it lose features as it developed. Now I can't
- have a button to take a snapshot (and I did that a lot, with all my grandchildren living in the US)
- when the button vanished, have a hotkey
- adjust my microphone with inbuilt control (now it's only "make a test call", period), can't even see whether it's working at all (now this may be in skype for linux only, dunno)
- turn off the emoticons
- paste a link without it stealing a good chunk of pixels from the chat
- paste code with * and _ because these get interpreted as bold and italic markup
- turn emoji off
- bunch of other features which I already forgot
So at least for family chats, I'm also looking for a replacement. Needs to
- have group video
- be p2p
- be independent of any of the monsters (google, m$, amazon, fb, tw, instagram and such)
