Independence from big monsters, their clouds and data harvesting. Usage of simple true and tried p2p stuff. No ads. No disappearing features at the whim of whichever fashion suddenly gets the idea that your screen is too big. Something that will work for years without much change. Pretty much what skype was about to be before it was devoured. I don't mind paying a few dozen € or some annual fee, as long as it's for some small independent shop which doesn't mean to sell itself to a corporation, doesn't want to grow into a behemoth, doesn't want to grow endlessly. Which has a product which does what I need.
