If you control the extraction, replace cr/lf in the memos with pipes or other otherwise unused character, then have whoever imports that convert back. Do something of the kind with commas in the memos (and other character fields, and also numerics with decimals if european format) too. Otherwise, tab delimited is better, at least you don't have to worry about the commas.
