Yeah that was kinda my whole point -- doesn't work out too well - for the leader or the country.

Agreed - and knowing this and the results of waiting -- 'sooner' is the wise thing to do other than 'later' - when things are dire & it's too late. Thus...why wait? It's why we have a free press - calling it the 'enemy of the people' is step 1 (a very big step in this case) of you-know-what-happens. Couple that with attacks on the other branches of government - the FBI, CIA, etc...oh and stack the court system with your ill-gotten supreme court justice (who has no business being on it), threaten to put your opponents in jail if you win (HRC), ...etc etc this list goes on. - this is precisely how fascism gets started -- see the path here?
