Well we could argue that we in fact have triple taxation in some cases. You invest in your house from your taxed income. Pay VAT for everything you buy to put into that house. So you've done building/renovating and now you pay property tax on it.

Over here it seems they are the government. It's such a chaos... There are hundreds of regulations which are simply not enforced, or perhaps for just a few show cases. The best reason to be on good terms with your neighbors, so they don't file a report on you.
