In fact, Carter and Bush easily make my top 5 list of worst all-time presidents.

"this country" means widely different things depending on your economic status.

I read recently that 40% of US citizens would have to borrow money to pay for a $400 emergency expense.
You can't even get a set of new tires for $400.
On the other hand someone recently paid $250,000,000 for a condo on Central Park West.
I recently scanned the Forbes rich list.
When Malcolm started it (it was a VFP table and I wrote the CRUD code so I got a close look at it), the lowest net worth was $400 million.
Now it's over $2 billion.
Also noteworthy, a large segment of the people on the latest list had nothing to do with the creation of the wealth - they inherited it.

So for a large segment of the US population what those inheritors might call "destruction" would really mean getting things straight.
